The Voodoo Bar serves an assortment of libations, including cocktails, seltzers, wine and beer. There are eight alcoholic drinks available for to-go, including The Red Headed Wompus Cat hurricane with two kinds of rum, and Maw Maw’s Bayou Tea that is spiked with lemon vodka and mint.

Boiling Dragon, 11625 Broadway: Chef-owner Harold Wong opened his casual seafood spot in summer of 2020 and kept it not just afloat, but growing, through the pandemic. Fans love his selections of fresh-catch fish and seafood, housemade soups, po’ boys and more.
Try starters such as tempura fried Fire Cracker Shrimp tossed in a sweet and spicy Korean aioli, edamame spiked with garlic butter or campechana loaded with fresh shrimp, krab stick, lump crab, olives, onion and avocado. Seasonal boiled seafood is sold by the pound at market prices, and available in three heat levels and six flavors, such as Thai basil and garlic butter. Choose from shrimp, snow crab, crawfish and blue crab, or try a combination with the Captain’s Feast, which comes with snow crab, 10 shrimp, blue crab (when available), corn, potatoes and sausage. There are baskets, too, filled with a choice of catfish, tilapia, shrimp, oysters, chicken wings or chicken strips; each comes with French fries. Sandwich fans can try the po’ boys, which are filled with shrimp, crawfish, oyster, catfish, soft shell crab or chicken.

Start with seafood-centric appetizers such as Shrimp Diableaux (bacon-wrapped with cream cheese and jalapeños), Seafood Fondue with lump crab meat, shrimp and crawfish or Cajun Ceviche spiked with namesake seasonings. Purists can order the classic shrimp cocktail, or venture out with Floyd’s Bar Trash, which is an enticing combination of blackened shrimp and lump crab meat served with lemon butter.
The restaurant is particularly well-known for its fresh fish, which is available in a choice of grilled, blackened or fried, and comes with one side. Crab stuffing for any fish is available for an additional $9.99. Choose from yellowfin tuna, Pacific sea bass, whole or filet of flounder, Norwegian salmon, mahi mahi, redfish or catfish. Good Vibes Coastal Kitchen, 1329 East Broadway: Formerly a burger-focused concept, this inviting spot rebranded with a sea-focused menu in late 2021. Try starters from the cold and raw bar such as the Gulf Coast Ceviche Tostada topped with fresh shrimp, mahi crab, lime juice and avocado, or the shareable Vibin’ Plateau loaded with a half-pound of peel ’n eat shrimp, six East Coast oysters, a poached lobster tail, tuna poke and smoked salmon dip that feeds two to four people. There are also fried oysters, crab cakes and bacon-wrapped Coastal Stuffed Jalapeños filled with lump crab and shrimp.
Folks who like their seafood handheld can opt for the Knuckle Sandwich filled with Maine lobster knuckles and a citrus tarragon dressing on a challah roll, or the blackened mahi sandwich kicked up with spicy remoulade, baja cilantro and cabbage slaw on a toasted brioche bun. There are à la carte tacos, too, such as blackened shrimp, baja fish and Sesame Yuzu Tuna.
Entrée-style options include fried shrimp with a choice of 12 beer-battered or cornmeal-crusted jumbo shrimp, fried lobster tail, lobster quesadillas, Shiner Bock-battered mahi mahi fish-n-chips or the Seafood Platter with fried mahi, shrimp, oysters and fries.
Seafood and sweets may not go together in the same bite, but they do start with the same letter and you won’t want to pass up one of the desserts at Good Vibes. Favorites include S’Mores, which is a honey graham cracker cake topped with chocolate mousse, ganache, salted caramel gelato and homemade marshmallow, or Island Bread Pudding with warm pineapple rum sauce and vanilla bean gelato.
LA Crawfish, 1910 Country Place Parkway: Despite its name, there is plenty of seafood at this cool kitchen that serves a variety of flavor-packed fare. The seafood po-boys come packed with shrimp, oyster, tilapia, salmon or crawfish tails cradled in pan-toasted French bread with slaw and housemade remoulade. Low-carbers can skip the bread and get the filling (sans the slaw and sauce) in a seafood basket instead.The sandwiches come with a choice of Waffle Cut Seasoned Fries or Waffle Cut Sweet Potato Fries, while the baskets include choice of either type of fries, Jasmine rice or Magic Cajun Rice.
Choose from three kinds of oysters on the half shell, taken up a notch with special toppings. Korean Style Oysters are drizzled with a sweet and spicy Korean pepper paste sauce and finished with sliced scallions and toasted sesame seeds, Japanese Ponzu Oysters are served with housemade citrus-based ponzu sauce and topped with red masago (capelin roe), shredded roasted seaweed and toasted sesame seeds, and customer favorite Thai Green Chili Oysters get a spoonful of a spicy-citrusy housemade Thai chili puree and fresh cilantro.
Crab, lobster and shrimp get their due here, too. Each is available boiled and served with garlic butter, House Cajun Rub or hot & sour sauce (or request a combination). In addition, try BBQ Blue Crab, BBQ shrimp, or boiled crab: king, snow or blue. An intriguing dish is the Salt-Toasted Lobster or Shrimp, in which the seafood is dredged in flour, fried, dusted with salt and pepper and topped with caramelized yellow onions and green jalapeños.
Lotus Seafood, 11710 West Broadway: The first location of this hip seafood locale opened in Houston in 2006, and has since expanded to four area locations. Menu highlights include fried and boiled seafood, po-boys, specialty plates and more.
Fried plates include single seafood and combos of fish filets or nuggets (trout or tilapia), shrimp, and oysters plus fries. Specialty combos include the Loud Pack, which contains Louisiana Fried Rice, 12 peeled shrimp and one Crack Sauce, or the Fully Loaded Loud Pack that adds corn, potato, sausage and boiled egg to the regular contents. There is a Hot Box, too, which includes a half pound each of shrimp and snow crab, plus one corn, one potato and one sausage. 7Spice Cajun Seafood, 11011 Shadow Creek Parkway: Vince Thai opened the first 7Spice Cajun Seafood in Missouri City in 2012, and the company has since expanded to 11 locations throughout the greater Houston area. The name reflects Thai’s realization that most of his recipes utilize at least seven spices. Dishes are prepared from scratch using personal recipes, and patrons praise the low prices and high-quality food.
The most popular item is the EZ Peel Shrimp Combo served with corn and red potatoes, but there are plenty of other must-try dishes on the extensive menu of virtually endless combinations. Start with the Boudin Ball appetizer and then select from the Boiled Seafood Combos seasoned with 7Spice flavors and served with red skin potatoes and corn on the cob. Options include Head-On Shrimp, EZ Peel Shrimp, Snow Crab, Duo Delight (half pound of snow crab plus EZ Peel Shrimp), King’s Platter with a full pound of snow crab, and Crawfish (seasonal).
