Real estate webinars this week highlight a range of topics — from commercial real estate leases to Opportunity Zones.

Sept. 15

The Chicago-based Institute of Real Estate Management will host the webinar “Preventing harassment and racial discrimination in property management” from 2 to 3 p.m. The talking points include laws regarding workplace harassment, managing complaints and the latest racial discrimination concerns. Pedro Vermales, the co-founder of the Orlando-based apartment property management firm Horizon Housing Management, will provide the presentation. Members pay $59; non-members pay $99. RSVP here.

Sept. 16

The Alexandria-headquartered National Association of Industrial and Office Properties will host the webinar “Negotiating with tenants and leasing space during Covid-19” from 2 to 3 p.m. The panelists will discuss how industrial and office landlords have managed new lease negotiations and rent abatement with existing tenants. NAIOP Research Director Shawn Moura will moderate the panel, which includes ICAP Development Partner Brian Adamson, Colliers International Executive Managing Director Jonathan Kingsley, and Northwestern Mutual Assistant General Counsel Michael Riopel. Sept. 17

The New York-based digital media company Bisnow will host the free webinar “South Florida Opportunity Zones: Miami’s first major OZ project has just been completed, will we see more?” from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The panelists will discuss how economic conditions have impacted interested and funding for Opportunity Zones, how the possibility of a new administration in the White House may influence the the program, and noteworthy deadlines for investors regarding the program. The discussion will also highlight Soleste Grand Central — a multifamily project by The Estate Companies that topped off in August and will be completed in 2021. The Miami Center for Architecture & Design will host the third annual MCAD Urban Warrior Awards from 6 to 7 p.m. The event includes a tribute to the late former Miami mayor Maurice Ferre by his daughter, Meme Ferre. Miami Herald Business and Visual Arts Editor Jane Wooldridge will moderate a panel discussion on Miami’s Urban Core. Panelists include Barlington Group Co-Founders Bill Fuller and Martin Pinilla II, Friends of the Underline Founder and President Meg Daly, Urban Impact Lab Co-Founder Marta Viciedo, and Books & Books owner and Miami International Book Fair Co-Founder Mitchell Kaplan.
