YORKTOWN, Ind. — Nestled in a Brown County-like setting with a ravine, creek and trails nearby, this rustic Yorktown home is perfect for nature-lovers.

Owned by local artist Kenneth Ryden for 21 years, the two-story home includes two bedrooms and two bathrooms and is about 1,752 square feet.

Next door to the home is another 1,100-square-foot space that Ryden has used as a studio, but which can be used for more living space, other hobbies or storage. The lot also has a 2000-square-foot barn and a horse stable with three stalls.

Altogether, the property is listed at $550,000.

“It’s just a little different than the cookie cutter type subdivision,” Ryden said.

The inside of the home is cabin-like, with hardwood flooring and open beam ceilings. Big windows are featured throughout. Both the sunroom and two-level deck overlook the ravine and creek.

“There’s one room that we call the ‘tree house room.’ It’s all windows and it overlooks the edge of the ravine and into the creek,” Ryden said of the sunroom. “I think that’s my favorite feature.”

While the home was built in 1999, it does have a historical note, Ryden said. The property borders what was known as Muncie’s “Chimingo Club” in the 1920s.

The home was also featured in the 2014 edition of “Artists’ Homes and Studios” by Ashley Rooney.

The separate studio space with a large garage door also includes an upstairs loft for more storage or living space.

“I hope the new owners buy it because they love being in nature,” Ryden said. “I hope that the future of the home is maintained and allows people to be able to do that for a long time.”
