Mark Hughes has joined Re/Max Alliance Group in the Venice office. He returns to Re/Max and the area after leading two of the West Coast’s largest brokerages and taking a real estate startup to sale.
Hughes is a former Sotheby’s International Realty affiliate owner and managing broker. He was president of Windermere Real Estate Services, where he oversaw operations and managed development, service activities and growth throughout Southern California.
Before that, he was the chief operating officer of First Team Real Estate, California’s largest independent real estate company. He then grew Newport Beach start-up Nook Real Estate until its successful sale to Compass in 2020.
For more than three decades, Hughes has accumulated comprehensive real estate sales and marketing success with a track record of delivering multimillion-dollar results.
He holds multiple state broker licenses and a bachelor’s from the University of Virginia.
Two new members have joined the team at SVN Commercial Advisory Group, in Sarasota. The move is part of the group’s overall strategy to bolster its coverage of the Southwest Florida commercial real estate market.
Mary O’Malley comes to SVN from a prominent, national real estate firm, where she specialized in self-storage. Among her accomplishments was the recent sale of a $3 million property.
O’Malley graduated from Lebanon Valley College, in Pennsylvania, where she studied business administration. She moved to Florida three years ago to work in commercial real estate.
One of her specialties at the SVN Commercial Advisory Group will be industrial properties.
Richard Lurk II will also provide brokerage services for the SVN Commercial Advisory Group.
In addition to commercial real estate brokerage, Lurk has an extensive background in tax consulting and cost segregation analysis. Cost segregation is a strategy designed to help reduce income tax liabilities for companies that build, acquire, renovate or expand real estate.
A tax manager who has worked in the industry since 2013, Lurk received a doctorate in law from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He also holds degrees in accounting and business administration.
Laura “Rusk” Ruszkiewicz has joined Re/Max Platinum Realty as an agent in the downtown Sarasota office. She specializes in residential sales and commercial leasing.
Ruszkiewicz has 23 years of real estate experience, including 14 years locally.
She attended Cornell University and practiced real estate in New York City before moving to Florida in 2001.
She speaks fluent French.
Erica Downs is Salesperson of the Month for September as Paradise Realty of Venice Inc.
Downs led the staff of 13 agents in new sales ending.
Terry Ward has joined Wagner Realty’s Manatee Avenue Office as a branch administrative assistant. She has 22 years of administrative experience in real estate.
Ward was previously employed by the Realtor Association of Sarasota Manatee and the Manatee Association of Realtors.
