A busted gas pipe near Florida’s Turnpike has authorities diverting traffic at Southern Boulevard as crews work on the scene Thursday morning.

UPDATE: Fire Rescue has lifted the shelter-in-place advisory as gas readings within a one-half mile affected area are at zero.
As of 1 p.m., the roadways remain closed.
GREENACRES – Both directions of Florida’s Turnpike are closed to traffic near Lake Worth Road as crews work on a broken gas pipe, authorities said Thursday morning.
At 9:50 a.m., crews responded to a ruptured gas line running parallel to the turnpike by the Lake Worth Road exit, according to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Capt. Albert Borroto said.
There is no fire at this time, but residents in the area were told to shelter in place as authorities worked the scene.
Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Yanko Reyes said authorities are diverting traffic as fire rescue crews continue work on the leak. As of 11:30 a.m., both the northbound and southbound lanes on the turnpike near the exit were closed, as well as traffic going east and west on Lake Worth Road.
Several agencies including Fire Rescue, the Florida Department of Transportation and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office were at the scene.
