In a COVID-19 world, the desire for space and privacy has never been more prominent among prospective buyers.
For those luxuries, people who have the money will spend it. But just how much are they willing to drop — and how far out are they willing to move?
Earlier this month, Manhattan saw a $33 million penthouse go into contract. According to the buyer’s agent, Eric Brown, the main draw was not only the size of the interior space, but the available outdoor space as well.
“To me, there is a huge push not just for boutique buildings, but bigger apartments with more interior square footage and, number one on the list, outdoor space,” he told Business Insider.
And while $33 million is up there, it isn’t uncommon for people to spend millions upon millions of dollars on homes. In fact, According to a July report by the Evening Standard in London, the number of new high-end buyers looking for homes worth £3 million and up had increased by 53% since May 23 compared to the previous five year average for that time of year.
But what if that price tag could get you more than just a house?
Private Islands Online provided Business Insider with private islands around the world with similar price points.
The seven islands that made the list are located all over the world, from Belize in the Caribbean to Maine in the United States, and range from $4.4 million to $5.5 million.
