  • The sale makes it the highest-priced waterfront sale on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe, according to Realtor.com.

The Cartwrights rode horses across television sets against a backdrop of pine trees and picturesque mountains on the Ponderosa Ranch from 1959 to 1973. And while “Bonanza” was fictional, the ranch was not.

The real Ponderosa Ranch, a sprawling 24-acre property in Nevada, looks a little different today. And it just sold for $38 million.

Realtor.com reported that the home’s high selling price makes it the most expensive

Just how the raging fire began is not yet known according to Civil Defence Minister Peni Henare.

Minister Henare says the situation is a matter of “wait and see” as to what extent the damage caused will be but there is no indication as to what may have triggered the fire.

Lake Ohau homes destroyed in major Waitaki District fire

Janet Brown was lying in bed as fierce winds kept her awake when she heard an alarm go off. Moments later she looked out her bedroom window to see her neighbour’s house on fire.

The large forest fire, which is still spreading, is thought to have destroyed dozens of homes near Lake Ohau in the Waitaki District and may have been started by an electrical arc from overhead power lines. Around 90 people were evacuated after the blaze broke out at around 3am, and it was believed to be rapidly growing in size on Sunday morning.

It is largest of several blazes burning around Canterbury and north Otago on Sunday.

Firefighters are also tackling a large pine forest fire in Livingston, south of Duntroon. The blaze is close to Mckenzie Rd and also started around 3.15am. Sixteen crews and a command unit from Dunedin are in attendance and eight helicopters

22 Tons of Original Classics Illustrated Engraving Plates for Sale by Jack Lake Productions Inc.

TORONTO, Oct. 1, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — From 1941 till 1967, Albert Kanter and the Gilberton Publishing Company produced 298 Classic Comics/Classics Illustrated titles in the United States. In 1964, a West Coast financier, Patrick Frawley, read a Classics Illustrated comic belonging to one of his children and was thus prompted to telephone the Gilberton Company to negotiate the purchase of the property. Albert Kanter signed off on the deal in December of 1967 for $500,000 USD. (That’s about 4 million U.S. dollars in today’s market.)

The interior zinc CMYK plates, now belonging to Frawley Corp, were stored in a Bronx warehouse. These engraving plates were metal reproductions of the artwork. All proofs, mats and electros were made from these engraving plates. Most of the copper engraving plates for the CI cover artwork are currently held by a collector in Michigan.

With trees in homes, many in Lake Charles living in questionable conditions a month after Hurricane Laura

“Carefully. Praying we don’t fall through the floor in the bathroom,” Veronica Thomas said.

LAKE CHARLES, La. — It’s been more than a month since Hurricane Laura made landfall in Southwest Louisiana. Many have moved back to homes in pieces as they work to rebuild.

“It’s actually in the roof,” said Lake Charles resident Veronica Thomas about the tree in her home. “So it’s a big gaping hole, a turbine fell out the house, big gaping hole there. My bedroom was flooded, my bathroom was flooded, the living room was flooded, kitchen was flooded.”

She’s still living there now.

“Carefully. Praying we don’t fall through the floor in the bathroom,” she said.

Even as she waits to hear from insurance, she’s relieved to see workers taking the tree off her roof one month after the storm.

“Right now it’s coming out of my pocket, which is not a lot,” she

How Bruce Kenan sued for a tax bargain on his Skaneateles Lake homes; “a slap in everybody else’s face”

In 2018, Skaneateles town officials raised the property tax assessment on Destiny USA partner Bruce Kenan’s two lakefront mansions to $7 million.

Unhappy with that, Kenan went to court and argued that was too high, that they really should be valued at $2.7 million. They settled somewhere in the middle: $4.7 million.

Then, less than a year later, Kenan put the properties up for sale.

Kenan’s asking price? $8.4 million.

That’s three times the amount he argued in court they were worth.

The Kenans are like other wealthy landowners in New York who use their money and lawyers to negotiate more favorable tax bills, town Assessor Michael Maxwell said.

Maxwell said he sees it again and again in Skaneateles and in Lake George, a ritzy Adirondack town where he is also a part-time assessor.

“The whole thing to me is just a slap in everybody else’s face,” Maxwell said.

Kenan’s

Luxurious Italian properties for sale in Lake Como, Orta, Garda and Maggiore

a view of a city with a mountain in the background

In Italy’s financial centre Milan, in the affluent region of Lombardy where the country’s coronavirus outbreak started, the usually bustling streets are quiet. The city’s frequently dire air quality has improved but the people continue to frown on those venturing out after lockdown. Barely days go by without another apocalyptic il nuovo normale opinion piece in the Milan-based Corriere della Sera newspaper, as if there is no escape from contagion and fear. Just 70km to the north, nestled on glacial Lake Como and a stone’s throw from neighbouring Switzerland, cypress-filled Bellagio is frequently voted the prettiest town in Europe. Residents here awake to the peal of bells from the 11th-century Basilica di San Giacomo. And the lapping of waves. Songbirds twitter among vivid azaleas just outside sun-filled windows. Stepping on to their balconies, lakeside homeowners breathe crisp, clear air and enjoy views across crystal waters to

Vintage, charming Lake Tahoe CA home for sale

A Lake Tahoe home with hidden stone pathways, a lighthouse and 220 feet of water frontage has hit the market for $7.75 million.

“It really is a magical storybook setting that one could never be duplicated under today’s development guidelines,” said Craig Miller, co-listing agent with Katherina Haug of Sierra Sotheby’s International Realty.

The classic “old Tahoe” cabin at Boulder Point on Lake Tahoe’s west shore was built in the 1930s and updated in 2000 to modern standards.

“This estate retains the charm and character of its early 1930s heritage,” according to a fact sheet on the home.

Owned by a Bay area family as their vacation home for the past 25 years, the property is located in an area with “very little turnover,” Miller said. Adjacent properties have remained under the same family ownership since the area was subdivided in the early 1930s, he added.
