Buyers Set To Show Their ‘in-tent’ As Classic Kiwi Campground Is Placed On The Market For Sale

A classic ‘Kiwiana’ campground with its own swimming
river and native bush surrounds has been placed on the
market for sale.

The
1.17-hectare property on the North Island’s Coromandel
Peninsula houses the Whitianga Campground which has been a
destination for campers and holiday-makers since the

from outdoor sports activities to sharing a glass of beer or
wine with the neighbours at the end of the
day.

Camping accommodation options at the Whitianga
Campground include:

  • 59 powered non-powered tent

Austin realtors report an uptick in out-of-town home buyers

Austin realtor Heather Brown said many of those out-of-town home buyers are working from home permanently and can live anywhere.

AUSTIN, Texas — Since June, some local realtors have reported seeing an uptick in out-of-state buyers in Austin, in a market already saturated with buyers but a low home inventory.

“We pretty much moved just for the job,” said new resident Alec Ryan.”I found a good opportunity with a great company, LandCare.”

With the opportunity to work in landscaping year-round, Ryan moved his family of six from the snowy mountains of Colorado to the grassy green hills of Austin.

“It seems similar to kind of that Colorado lifestyle, you know, very outdoorsy, lots of good music and lots of good food,” said Ryan.

Even though some of that has been devastated by COVID-19, Ryan’s realtor, Heather Brown with Remax Austin Skyline, said that’s not stopping out-of-towners from moving to the

Life inside senior care homes, after the coronavirus crucible

In the rooms, halls, and gathering spots of the Commonwealth’s senior care sites, the coronavirus took a particularly insidious hold in the spring and early summer. Rogerson House in Jamaica Plain had the state’s first known senior care fatality. At St. Chretienne Retirement Residence in Marlborough, 22 of 31 nuns contracted the coronavirus. Sickness spread and the residents were isolated from friends and family. Since those dark days, staff members have adjusted even the most basic of routines. Today, the way of life for residents has been transformed.

Sisters Gloria Cote, 92, (left) and Jeanne Fregeau, 93, shared a laugh on the porch at St. Chretienne Retirement Residence. Both fell ill to COVID-19 during the April outbreak. Cote said, "I wasn't as sick as she was." Fregeau said, " When I realized what it was I was afraid to die. Then I thought, 'the Lord will come and get me.' I worried about what would happen to Gloria. But I guess it wasn't time because he didn't come get me.''

Homes in Black and Latino neighborhoods still undervalued 50 years after US banned using race in real estate appraisals | The Conversation

(The Conversation is an independent and nonprofit source of news, analysis and commentary from academic experts.)

Junia Howell, University of Pittsburgh and Elizabeth Korver-Glenn, University of New Mexico

(THE CONVERSATION) The Research Brief is a short take about interesting academic work.

The big idea

Racial inequality in home values is larger today than it was 40 years ago, with homes in white neighborhoods appreciating $200,000 more since 1980 than comparable homes in similar communities of color.

Our new research on home appraisals shows neighborhood racial composition still drives unequal home values, despite laws that forbid real estate professionals from explicitly using race when evaluating a property’s worth. Published in the journal Social Problems, our study finds this growing inequality results from both historical policies and contemporary practices.

In the 1930s, the federal government institutionalized a process for evaluating how much a property was worth. Often called redlining, this process used
